some info about the breed
Pomeranians started out as a small snow dog in northern Germany at about 30lbs. Queen Victoria wanted the dog as a lap dog so she bred the dog's size down to 7 lbs. This is where our current sized dogs come from. Today you can get a Pom as small as 4 lbs up to 12 lbs. But 4-7 lbs remains the standard for the breed. Many advertise "teacup" Poms but this is a myth. Poms are already as small as they should be. My line is 4-8 lbs although I cannot predict the final weight of any of my dogs although I strive to stay within the standard size.
Things to keep in mind for the safety of your new Pom.
1. As with any toy breed, the Pomeranian is NOT suited for a family with small children due to there fragile nature.
2. Do not let them on high furniture because they can easily and quickly jump or fall off and be injured.
3. They must be watched at all times when outside due to large birds, other animals or even people taking them.
4. When exercising outdoors they should be in an enclosed area or on a leash. Poms are extremely fast!
A harness is best!
5. You must use a vet familiar with treating Toy breeds. It is fairly easy to overdose a small dog. Vaccines should NOT be given all at the same time. **Please advocate for your dog and have your vet space out all shots and flea/tick treatments!!!
6. Avoid giving your Pom tidbits from the table. These small dogs have equally small stomachs and this can result in an emergency trip to the vet. They can also choke very easily.
7. Please puppy proof your house before bringing your new Pom puppy home. Poms will chew on anything small they can get to and there is a high risk of choking.
First come, first serve. I do not hold dogs without a deposit. Deposits are to be made via Venmo, Zelle, PayPal (3% fee applies), or Cash and remainder shall be made with Cash, Zelle or Venmo at time of pick up. Puppies go home when they are 8 weeks old and No earlier. Pick ups are made on Sundays only or by special appointment. A spay/neuter Contract must be signed at time of pick up unless you have arranged for a full AKC registration.
Puppies are Pee Pad trained but please consider that this is a baby and may continue to have "accidents" for up to a year. Buyer shall receive a 1st shots record and must sign a contract at time of pick up. Buyer will receive a puppy care pack which will include a treat, blanket used in the puppies crate, toy, and a copy of the pedigree. Buyer has 10 days in which to take the puppy to their own Vet after pick up to establish the health of the dog in order to validate the 6 month genetic health guarantee. Pet Insurance is highly recommended. If these requirements are not met, then the guarantee is null and void and Buyer takes full responsibility for dogs genetic health. If the dog is found to have a LIFE-THREATING genetic issue I will replace the puppy with a new dog if I have another pup available or when I have my next litter. If you prefer Not to get another puppy, I will gladly take back the puppy and give you a full refund once my own vet confirms the diagnosis. *I do NOT pay for any vet bills.*
**Please keep in mind that while I deworm my puppies, there is always the chance they can have parasites, bacterial infections or worms since they are in constant contact with my other dogs who are coming in and out from my yard. The dirt outside holds many of these biological organisms and they also exist inside the mothers stomach. Giardia, Coccidia and worms commonly show up in fecal tests. These are easily remedied by your vet giving you a 7-10 day antibiotic. There is Nothing life-threating about this and your puppy will be fine in a few days.
**If for any reason at any time you can no longer take care of your Pom I will gladly take back the dog (no refund) and find it a new owner. I never want any of my dogs to ever go to a shelter! My dogs always have a home with me.**
